A Word From Andy

May 16th, 2010 | Live from Edinburgh

Hi Everyone,
It’s finally starting to shape up for a proper spring (summer?) – although I can’t say enjoyed the recent cold snap in the US and the UK. Tourism seems to be warming up too for a hot summer, but as I type the volcanic ash drama seems to also be heating up again. This looks like a permanent annoyance, though it seems airlines and transport companies seem to be putting alternative plans in place much faster.

Are you gearing up for a great summer season (or bedding down for the winter, our antipodean friends)? Regardless, take five minutes and read about a tiny coffee shop that is not just surviving, but thriving in a very tough Seattle coffee market. It should inspire you to do great tourism things. Let me know how I can support you in doing just that.

All the best,

Andy

Talking Travel & New Media

This month we had some very special guests – Sheila Scarborough and Becky McCray from Tourism Currents, a fabulous “new media education” program.  In plain English:  they teach you everything you need to know about digital media, in a format that is easily digestible and hands-on.  I’d suggest after you listen to our one hour chat, you pop over to their website to learn more – you can do that by clicking on the logo below!

We’re an affiliate partner of Tourism Currents, but I’ve went through the materials myself and really enjoyed the refreshing perspective and hands-on tips.
